Part 2 – ‘We’ll go there’

Sometimes, when a manager or coach is asked about how his team intends to approach an away game, he’ll start by saying ‘We’ll go there’ as if travelling to the venue is some kind of ingenious tactical ploy, or a significant achievement in itself.

To be honest, this doesn’t do much for their credibility, because you can’t help thinking ‘Of course you’ll go there – it’s on the fixture list isn’t it?’ or ‘How do you expect to play the match if you don’t go there?’

Ignore it. It’s meaningless.
