Part 3 – ‘Getting something out of the game’
Heres another favourite from the post match interview archive We deserved to get something out of the game.
Bet you wish you had a tenner for every time youve heard a losing manager trot that one out.
Everyone knows its three points for a win and one for a draw, so what do they expect? Nectar points? A cuddly toy?
For those with half a brain, there is always something, apart from the points, to be got out of a game. We could call it knowledge and its on offer to anyone who is determined to benefit from the opportunity. All you have to do is think beyond the clichés. To earn the right to learn.
So the reality is that, even if you dont win or draw, there is always something to get out of a game. Whether you deserve it or not depends entirely on how you deal with the experience.
In other words, no game is a dead loss. Unless, of course, youre a dead loss.
