Glenn Roeder
It is absolutely typical of Glenn Roeder that after offering his resignation as manager of Newcastle United he should speak with genuine pride of the honour he felt to have been allowed to do the job, express his sincere thanks and affection to the clubs passionate fans, offer his very best wishes to his successor and make no attempt whatsoever to fabricate any excuses for the shortcomings of his side this season.
Quite apart from the fact that he knows the game and is widely admired as a patient and perceptive coach, Glenn offers a level of integrity, dignity and innate decency which in these cynical times should make it extremely unlikely that he will be unemployed for very long.
