Stern Test for the Reds
There are plenty of good judges who are tipping Liverpool to finish the season as premiership runners up and with only one point to make up on Manchester United to secure second place and two games in hand to do it in, they seem like a good bet, especially in the light of recent form.
You have to go back more than 12 weeks since the Reds last tasted defeat and that was in the Carling Cup against Crystal Palace on 25th October 2005. Since then theyve put together a formidable sequence of 15 games unbeaten, and only three of those were draws.
The next couple of months will provide a stern test of whether their outstanding form can be maintained, with visits to Old Trafford (22nd January) and Stamford Bridge (5th February) and the prospect of Arsenal at Anfield on 14th February representing the premiership highlights, plus Champions League fixtures against Benfica in February (away) and March.
