Straw Poll

All because...

It is alleged that Manchester United captain Gary Neville ‘hates scousers’. No-one would have guessed from his demeanour at Old Trafford on 22nd January. Before the match, he stood in the tunnel at the head of his team staring grimly forward in a passable imitation of his predecessor Roy Keane. During the match, he was the model of aggressive commitment, pausing just long enough on occasions to engage in some discussion with that nice referee Mike Riley (who is always willing to lend an ear) on the finer points of the law, as has been his custom for many years. And at the end of the match, after a thunderous late header from Rio Ferdinand had given Manchester United what at times must have seemed an unlikely victory, he couldn’t wait to hurtle over and share his joy with some of the Liverpool fans. He even did a little dance for them and showed them his badge.

Rumour has it that some of the Liverpool contingent misinterpreted his intentions. It has even been suggested that the local police were concerned that his actions might be interpreted as inflammatory.

Perish the thought. Brother Phil, who was no doubt picking up a bit of extra pocket money working as a Sky pundit for the day, explained that it was all because he loves Manchester United so much.
