Pardew is the Victor

Alan Pardew seems intent on acquiring a reputation as an angry young (well, not quite so young) man. A few weeks ago he had a pop at Arsene Wenger – which is a bit like a junior doctor having a go at a senior consultant. And at the West Ham v Charlton game, he got cross because it ended goal-less and seemed to blame most of it on referee Rob Styles, both during and after the event.

His observations from the technical area were rewarded with a stern lecture from Styles and advice on what he should do to avoid being banished to the stands, but in the post-match interview Pardew was at it again – grumbling, complaining, looking for a scapegoat.

The truth is that it was a tight London derby which despite lots of corners, several chances and Teddy Sheringham’s 40th birthday, ended 0-0 – and the absence of goals had a great deal more to do with the players than Rob Styles – whatever Mr Meldrew (sorry, Pardew) says.
